Aberdeen: Torry Heat Network Learning Journey
Aberdeen City Council’s Torry Heat Network is one of the 1st heat networks in Scotland to use waste heat from a combined heat and power Energy-from-Waste plant.
The scheme, which has been delivered over two phases, provides more affordable energy to approximately 800 homes and will deliver over 100,000 tonnes of carbon savings over the next 40 years.
The heat is supplied by the energy from waste plant which is being constructed in East Tullos industrial estate to dispose of non-recyclable waste from Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray Councils. The Torry Heat Network has a long-term approach and is designed as a 3rd generation system with the potential to transition to a 4th generation network in the future, allowing for further temperature reductions and efficiency improvements.
Aberdeen City Council, Vital Energi and Aberdeen Heat and Power in partnership with Heatsource invite you to join us for a guided bus tour following the route of the network through varying types of housing stock. The tour will conclude at the Torry heat take off energy centre, where you will get the opportunity to hear from those that have driven the vision and turned it into reality.
This is an invite only event and very limited places. Please book your space early if you are interested in attending by clicking the add to cart button at the top of the page.
Please note that we also have a District Heating event and networking at the Sandman Hotel the day before (26th Nov). We would be delighted if you could also join us for this where there will be opportunity to talk to a number of the District Heat Supply Chain and engage in discussions on overcoming barriers to heat network adoption in major Scottish cities. Book here for this separate event.
Date: 27th Nov
Location: Bus pick up/return Aberdeen City Centre – close to train station
Time: 9.45am for 10am – 1pm
